Wine Storage Tips: How to Keep Your Bottles at Their Best
Ideal Temperature
Keep wine between 45°F and 65°F, with 55°F being optimal for long-term storage. Avoid fluctuations, which can spoil the wine.
Store Horizontally
Bottles with corks should be stored on their sides to keep the cork moist, preventing it from drying out and letting in air.
Control Humidity
Aim for 50–70% humidity. Too dry, and corks shrink; too humid, and you risk mold growth.
Light and Vibration
Keep wine away from direct sunlight and vibrations, both of which can prematurely age the wine.
Short-Term vs. Long-Term Storage
Short-term? A wine rack in a cool, dark place is fine. Long-term? Consider a dedicated wine fridge or cellar.
